Dry needling uses a small solid filament needle to alleviate trigger points within the muscle tissue. Trigger points are taut bands of muscle caused by overuse, injury, and some metabolic sources.

Balance training is an important but often neglected skill. People of all ages suffer from decreased balance. For example, ankle sprains are a common injury that leads to decreased balance due to not addressing the interrupted proprioception of the foot and ankle. Proprioception is the body’s way of telling where you are in space. As we age, we lose strength and flexibility. These deficits also contribute to the loss of balance. More than 1 out of 4 Americans 65 and older fall each year. Falls result in more than 3 million injuries treated in the ER each year. The British Journal of Medicine reported the inability to stand on one leg unsupported for 10 seconds is associated with an 84% heightened risk of death from any cause in the next decade.
