Amy Scala
PT, DPT, COMT, CMTPT
Amy Scala, PT, DPT, COMT, CMTPT. Amy obtained her Masters in 2002 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2004 from Elon University. She has been practicing in orthopedics and sports injuries since 2002. In 2009, she obtained her Certification of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) through Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars. This took her treatments to a different level with focus on the root cause of the patient’s pain and dysfunction. In 2012, Amy obtained her certification in dry needling or Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT). Focus on relieving trigger points through dry needling enables a faster release of the muscles to help restore movement patterns. In 2015, she obtained her certification in Fascial Manipulation. Fascial restrictions also limit movement patterns and cause pain. In 2017, she obtained her certification in Selective Functional Movement Assessments. This technique does a quick assessment of movement patterns to determine where the issues are developing and how to change them. Amy has chosen to start her own clinic to be able to spend more one on one time with her patients and develop a practice to help patients return to their lifestyles, whether it be being able to make it through a work day without pain, return to daily activities with less pain, return to playing their chosen sport, or to improve their overall performance within a sport.
